This is the first book of the Armenian Folk Tales three-volume collection selected from about two dozen academic folklore collections. To make it more accessible to the public, they were rendered from different dialects (Van-Vaspurakan, Touruberan-Mush, Artsakh, Gharadagh, Moks, Lori etc.) into modern-day literary Armenian.

When choosing, the preference was given to the folk tales the main motives of which are common in the folklore of different Armenian provinces, as well as the folk tales that are unknown to our society but are very valuable.

Hidden treasures that newly introduce us to the Armenian people's mentality, spiritual and cultural heritage.

These folk tales condense the wisdom that the Armenian nation has accumulated over thousands of years, its philosophy of life, humor, the ancient conceptions of the universe - historical and ethnographic valuable material which can become a source of unique discoveries for the reader.
Though the folk tales come from the depth of ages, the impression is that they are quite modern. We are sure they will be of great interest to children and adults.
